Professor Simon Lewis, Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience, The University of Sydney.
Simon is a Consultant Neurologist who trained in the UK at the University of Cambridge, Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery London. After relocating to Australia in 2007, he developed his clinical career at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Camperdown before moving all of his clinical work to be collocated with his research at the NeuroSleep Clinic at the Brain and Mind Centre.
As well as his role as a neurologist, Simon is also a Clinical Academic, having published over 200 peer reviewed papers, and has attracted over $5 Million in funding from various sources including the NHMRC, ARC and Michael J Fox Foundation in support of support his research interests targeting Parkinson’s and related conditions. He frequently lectures at local support group meetings and is a regular invited speaker at both national and international meetings. In 2014, the Australia and New Zealand Association of Neurologists awarded him the Leonard Cox Award for achievements as an early career Neurologist who has already made a significant contribution to neuroscience. Most recently, he has been appointed as the Clinical Lead for the Australian Parkinson’s Mission, a federal government initiative to establish a program of disease modifying trials.
