Jake Palmer

Jake is in the final stages of his Combined PhD/Masters of Clinical Neuropsychology. His project has investigated the relationship between white matter and sleep-wake functioning in older adults at risk for dementia. From this, he has gained experience in neuroimaging analysis (particularly diffusion weighted and structural imaging) to measure both overnight sleep (polysomnography) and 24-hour rest-activity (rhythms). More broadly, Jake is interested in the links between modifiable risk factors (e.g. lifestyle factors, sleep), biomarkers (imaging and markers of pathology) and risk for cognitive decline. Jake is also interested in applying novel analysis methods not previously used in this at-risk population, and in the use of reproducible research tools and high performance computing.
